Distributed between four museums, Tate Collection’s are rich of two important collections : made up of works of art British since the Tudor dynasty and another presenting international contemporary works. At March 31st, 1998, Tate Collection counted 4 270 paintings, 1 501 sculptures and 3 649 works on paper medium. Following an important reorganization in 2001, the historical seat of Tate Gallery became that of Tate Britain. Among the artists best represented William Hogarth (1 room) appear, William Blake (1 room), John Constable (3 rooms), but also Gabriel Rossetti, Stanley Spencer, to sir Jacob Epstein, Henry Moore, David Hockney and Gilbert and George. The Close Gallery presents the integrality of the paintings of Turner. Inaugurated in May 2000, the Tate Modern is installed on southern bank of the Thames in an industrial waste land of the years 1950. The Tate Modern, or “ the Factory ”, as like to call it the Londoners, shelters a collection of contemporary works artists of all countries such as Piet Mondrian, Salvador Dalí, Pablo Picasso, Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol.
