Jacopo Robusti says Tintoret. Pietà, Deposition. 1559.
Pietà is the moment of the passion of the Christ who follows the Deposition. In general the artists represent Christ in the arms of the Virgin in tear. Sometimes this one is accompanied by the apostle St Jean and the Holy Women.
In this work all represents the drama and the pain, the virgin is disappeared supported by Marie Madeleine, the body of Jesus is raised by Saint Jean in front of another holy woman who seems not of them to believe her eyes.
Although the cross misses scene the body of Christ and the wide arms of the characters draw his contour symbolically.
